This session will provide teachers with hands-on experiences to provide the knowledge and skills needed to ensure every child has access to innovative science learning which will help to build the science identity of each student. Teachers will begin to learn how the three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards can be embedded into our current FOSS curriculum resource. This session is designed for teachers new to Cherry Creek and those teaching a new grade level.

Diving into NGSS and creating three dimensional lessons and assessments Day 1: Teachers will dive into the NGSS, phenomenon, and the three dimensions. Teachers will reflect on the conceptual shifts needed in science education with NGSS and the 2020 CAS. Day 2: Teachers evaluate current lessons using the Equip rubric for alignment to the three dimensions of NGSS. Teachers then adapt current lessons or units or create new 5E NGSS three dimensional lessons and units. Teachers include CRE planning questions, differentiation strategies, and create three dimensional assessments.
